Second meeting of the Women in Museums network

Following the successful launch of the initiative at the TEFAF art fair in Maastricht earlier this year, Athena Art Foundation and Mercè Valderrey (art ddvisor and dealer) held our second Women in Museums network meeting in New York City on 11th May, organised in collaboration with New York art dealers Mireille Mosler and Jill Newhouse.

This second event, coinciding with the preview day of the TEFAF art fair, brought together curators of world-class museums, private collectors, gallerists, art dealers, academics and other experts. The presence of prominent private collectors, philanthropists and museum trustees highlighted growing recognition of the important role that women play in shaping the art world.

By shining a spotlight on the achievements and contributions of women in the art world, the Women in the Museums initiative aims to inspire the next generation of female leaders and promote greater diversity, inclusion, and equality in the sector. Our intention is to host similar events in various venues around the world, as well as to explore online platforms to reach an even broader audience.
